My favorite Schnucks in the area! It's a short drive from my house so I go here often. The cashiers and stockers are all so friendly. When you need an item, they are more than happy to help. Couldn't ask for anything more. Keep up the good work!!

This is the best Schnuck's I've ever been to. The liquor selection is very comprehensive and the beer selection is right sized to find what you want without lacking for something local and special. The meat selection is the best I've seen and the counter people are super friendly and helpful to make sure you get the cut you want. There are discounted items all over the store and I haven't found any store in the STL with better pricing other than Aldi which isn't quite the same thing as a general grocery store like this. The staff is helpful and will help you find anything you are looking for. I'd highly recommend the Schnuck's in Alton.

Great news, this ancient grocery store is getting a remodel. As with any remodel where the store remains open, there are obstructions to maneuver around. Shoppers may have a little inconvenience now, but it is well worth it. The areas that have already had their face lifts, are looking fabulous. This is my before work grocer, I pick up supplies for the office and on occasion lunch items. I have found this staff to be, small town friendly. They give new meaning to the friendliest stores in town. They are so excited about their remodel, they take real pride in their store. So with a remodel and energetic employees, I am bumping them up a star. They deserve it.

Love this place. For being an Alton grocery store, it has a great beer and alcohol selection, and I like all the nifty bagels and cookies in the bakery section. The hot and cold food from the deli hasn't disappointed me. Checkers there are almost always friendly, no matter when you come, and I can't say I've purchased any bad produce from Schnucks. I'll always hold up grocery stores to the standard of this, my hometown Schnucks, that I've been to countless times, at all hours of day. When I was home last Christmas I realized in telling my girlfriend about stories of growing up in Alton just how much of my life was spent in this store, and how many memories happened. And you never know what old friend you'll see going down the aisles. My one complaint is that they closed the video store awhile back. I mean, I guess I get that video/DVD/game rental isn't the big business it once was, but I have a ton of memories in that area, and they don't seem to have found anything new to go there. Could the video rental really have been doing more harm than good being there? Could they just put up one rack with all the Police Academy VHS tapes so I can go and rent them three for a dollar when I'm sick and at home?
